Kati Preston’s joyful childhood in Hungary came to an end in 1944. Bit by bit, law by law, action by action, her world was dismantled. Everything she knew and loved was stripped away. What unfolded over seventy years ago now echoes disturbingly in our present day: a society manipulated by fear, emotions weaponized, and old hatreds reignited. It was a time when the worst instincts were rewarded, and the best were silenced.
